Hi Macaroni Kid Placerville Family,

We are almost to the end of February and the beginning of spring, and I don't know about you guys but the allergy bug is hard at work in my family. I do love seeing the sun, kids outside playing, flowers starting to bloom, but wait a second let's put the breaks on.... I want WINTER still. Yes I will admit when it is raining for days I am one of those ones that said I wish it would stop, but you have to admit we really have not had much of a winter at all. I for one do not want us to get back to the point that all we here from the water officials is that darn 7 letter word... Drought! I want to be able to see Daffodil Hill this year as it is one of my favorite spring spots to go. Last year they were open for 1 whole day, I figured they would be open at least 2 or 3 and I didn't want that first day traffic so I waited, and then was sooooo very sad the next day when FB and the news said they were closed.

If you look at The Farmers Almanac Predictions for Northern Calif. it states:

"When it comes to Northern California, the Almanac predicts that we are in for a winter with cool temperatures and normal amounts of precipitation. This is great news for those who enjoy milder winters without too much cold or snow to worry about!

"This means we can expect the typical cold temperatures that winter brings, but definitely not as freezing as the eastern part of the country. They also predict the coldest part of the season will occur during the final week of January and last through the beginning of February."

Well I guess they were right on the winter, that pretty well sums up what we have had.

In our articles this week there is a great article written by Mary Shoemaker on how uses walking to help keep cold and flu away, this being American Heart Month also is an even better reason to get out and walk. Which brings me to the next article written by Janel Plunkard, publisher of Macaroni Kid Springfield, Mo. about her son and his journey with a Diagnosis of a Congenital Heart Defect.

I hope you all have a fantastic week,

Rosalie
