The Best The County Has To Offer

By By Adrielyn Christi Macaroni Kid Placerville August 17, 2022

When you think of farmers markets, what are the first things that come to your mind? I’ll tell you the first things I think of: fruit and vegetables. But that is far from what the farmers markets in El Dorado County have to offer. Although there are a ton of them, but there a few that stand out. Let’s get into where they are and why they stand out now.

1. Ski Run Farmer's Market

Located in South Lake Tahoe, South Lake Tahoe’s evening farmers market. 40+ vendors. Local farms, hot food, ice cream, art, jewelry, live music, face painting, henna, wine and beer specials at the restaurants along side the market. It’s a fun, vibrant market that is definitely family friendly and what makes it stand out is that its an evening market with attractions for kids. Most markets don’t have what Ski Run has to offer. The markets run every Friday starting in June - September, so if you haven’t been, how’s the time to go!

2. Tahoe City Farmers Market

Located in North Shore Lake Tahoe on Commons Beach, this farmers market may not have all of the offerings as Ski Run, but they do offer local, fresh grown fruits and vegetables, crafts, tons of good food from crepes, chocolates, specialty made food and baked goods. Tahoe City Market runs June through October

3. Main Street Farmers Market

A quaint certified farmers' market specializing in local produce and goodies. Open to the public from June through October, Wednesday evenings rain or shine 4pm to dusk (8pm ish) the Main Street Farmers’ Market offers an abundance of locally produced fruit, vegetables, jams, cottage wares and more within a family friendly environment of music and community.  Look for them under the Historic Bell Tower, Wednesdays, 4pm until Dusk.

4. Meyers Mountain Market

Lastly, but certainly not least, Meyers Mountain Market located at Tahoe Paradise Park is a certified farmers market for Meyers residents and South Lake Tahoe locals. It features locally grown fruits, vegetables, meat, eggs & honey. Fresh-baked goods, flowers, arts & crafts, food trucks, live music, and more. I love the markets that have so much to offer than just food and Meyers has it all.

So in short, if you have not yet visited these markets, what are you waiting for?
